Tough economic times have forced the closure of an iconic Wellington fashion brand.
Ashley Fogel will be discontinuing its line after more than forty years in the New Zealand fashion industry.
Kirkcaldie and Stains managing director John Milford says the closure is very disappointing, but many Wellington clothing retailers are struggling at the moment.
"It is particularly tough for an iconic Wellington-owned brand. Does it mean that it is going to impact on other brands?
"I think it is just the changing face of retail."
