BMW 'NZ's most awarded new model range' for 2014

BMW has been recognised as New Zealand’s most awarded new vehicle marque following the announcement of all major Car of the Year (COTY) and category winners for 2014.

BMW claimed nine COTY or category wins, outscoring both mainstream mass market brands and premium competitors in the process.

Awards were bestowed on the all-new M3/M4 with four category wins, the X5 claimed three while the 4 Series received one. The brand new i3, BMW’s vision of sustainable personal mobility, was recognised with one overall COTY title.

"Motoring journalists, more so than any other people, have the opportunity to drive literally every new model launched over the course of the year, so we value their opinions incredibly highly," said the Managing Director of BMW Group New Zealand, Nina Englert.

"Achieving the mantle as the most awarded new model range in New Zealand is a huge vote of confidence in our line up and is an impressive accolade, one which we are justifiably very proud of."

The awards cap off a busy year for the world’s most popular premium automotive brand, during which 12 new models were launched ranging from an all-new MINI, 2 Series Active Tourer, new Four Series Gran Coupe and X4, through to the i8.

"Awards like these are fantastic recognition for models such as the X5 as well as M3/M4, but we are particularly proud of the COTY award bestowed on the i3 as we believe this is the way of the future," said Ms Englert.

"The awards reinforce to all our New Zealand customers that they have indeed made the right choice when it comes to buying a BMW, as well as the 2000-plus customers who have helped us achieve an all-time sales record this year."
