A crackdown on drugs in the workplace is ramping up in the capital.
The New Zealand Drug Detection Agency has recorded a 25% increase in Wellington workplace testing from 2011 to 2012, carrying out 3700 tests last year.
Chief executive Chris Hilson says that's down to the broadening scope of health and safety protocols.
"A lot more focus is going on to health and safety, they're widening their focus into drug and alcohol testing and rehabilitation programmes, and a lot more companies are now aware of it."
