Australian businessman Dick Smith is praising Prince Charles as a person with loads of common sense who is prepared to ‘say it how it is’.
Prince Charles arrives in New Zealand on Saturday for an official visit.
Dick Smith says while Australian politicians lack leadership and business leaders are obsessed with never-ending growth and bigger casinos, Prince Charges is showing extraordinary leadership in major world issues.
He says Prince Charles is calling for a change in thinking because the perpetual growth in population and the use of energy and resources is not sustainable in a finite world.
Dick Smith says the Prince of Wales is brave and sensible enough to say that using GDP as a measure of success is ridiculous and antiquated.
He says Charles is portrayed in the media as an eccentric who talks to his plants, but the truth is quite the opposite.
