John Key says Christchurch will be promoted as a work destination for the unemployed.
This follows reports that the Government was considering sending unemployed people to the quake damaged city to help with the rebuild.
However, John Key says it seems practical to encourage people to go to work in Christchurch.
He says we know that the unemployment rate in the South Island is about five percent and Auckland at eight percent, so there are real opportunities in Christchurch where employers are screaming out for workers.
