Mighty River Power has recorded a 12 per cent increase in sales volumes, in its latest quarterly operational update.
The majority of the gain has come from a 22 per cent increase in volumes to business customers, compared to the same three month period last year.
Chief Executive Doug Heffernan says the company's total generation volume increased by 6 per cent, with hydro generation up 13 per cent on the previous corresponding period.
The Government hopes to sell the state owned enterprise this year, as part of its partial asset sales plan.
