Nelson Airport appoints CEO

The Board of Nelson Airport Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Evans as their new Chief Executive.

"Rob Evans will bring to his new role extensive airport, property and project management experience. His skills and proven capabilities for Airport development are expected to stand our company in great stead as Nelson Airport enters a new and important growth phase accompanied by extensive upgrades of our parking, egress and Terminal expansion," commented Paul Steere, Nelson Airport Chairman.

Mr Evans is from Wellington and presently works with The Property Group as regional Business Manager and Principal Advisor Aviation. Prior to this Mr Evans spent 7 years working for North Queensland Airports which encompass both Cairns and McKay airports through which pass nearly 5 million passengers annually. Mr Evans was General Manager - Aviation Development, Marketing and Operations, prior to which he was General Manager Commercial for the Group. Before his Queensland posting, Mr Evans was Manager, Property and Development at Wellington International Airport.

Rob Evans commented, "I am excited by this opportunity and am very cognisant of how important aviation access is to isolated and regional economies. Partners in the tourism and economic development sectors will be key planks in the future growth of Nelson and I look forward to forging those relationships. With the infrastructure developments planned I want to be part of ensuring a first and last impression for locals and visitors that truly represents the unique culture and diversity of the region. I am very conscious of the accolades and exceptional qualities that Nelson Airport provides for its patrons and stakeholders and will look to build on that positive reputation. In addition, improving amenities and services to provide a greater choice of options for our customers will be important"

Mr Evans will commence as Chief Executive in early February.
