Microsoft (MSFT) has acquired Bonsai—a small startup firm that deals with AI (artificial intelligence). Bonsai, which was incorporated in 2014, has worked with companies in various sectors like oil, ventilation systems, robotics, and cars. The company specializes in reinforcement learning, which allows the training systems to use trial and error methods to generate better results.
The companies plan to merge their Indonesian units, PT XL Axiata and PT Smartfren, and are currently discussing the structure of a deal which could involve a mix of cash and shares, Bloomberg News said on Thursday. A non-binding agreement may be reached in the coming months, allowing the companies to continue negotiations and carry out due diligence, the report said, adding that there was no guarantee that a deal would go through.

Hawaiian Electric on Wednesday told customers to resume using electricity a normal, ending a call to conserve power on Hawaii Island after its generation capacity dropped due to some units going out of service.
