'25 Percent Group' launches push for more women

Top New Zealand chief executive officers are involved in a push to get more women on boards of management.

The group has this morning launched a voluntary code of practice aimed at getting suitably qualified women into senior positions.

Included in the '25 Percent Group' are a host of recruitment firms, along with business leading lights such as Mighty River Power chair Joan Withers, Telecom and Transpower chief Mark Verbiest and NZ stock exchange chair Andrew Harmos.

It wants to make sure at least 25 percent of candidates on long lists for board positions will be women and to encourage boards to be more representative of the shareholders and consumers they serve.
