AT&T looks to upgrade, McDonald’s adds old menu, Instagram tinkers with WhatsApp and Nintendo gets a powerup

Here’s a look at some of the companies the Yahoo Finance team will be watching for you today.

AT&T (T) is closing in on a 5G win. America’s second largest wireless provider says it will launch faster mobile internet for people across a dozen U.S. cities by late 2018. 5G lets users stream videos faster and could also improve driverless car technology. If the tech is rolled out in time, AT&T would be the first carrier ever to provide 5G.

Today is the day McDonald’s (MCD) relaunches its popular Dollar Menu. After a six year hiatus, the dollar menu is back, but they probably should have renamed it because this time, items are one, two, and three dollars. McDonald’s president says the company has lost out on at least half a billion dollars in sales since axing the discounted menu.

If you’re one of the billion people using WhatsApp (FB), you now have a new way to share your favorite moments. Tech Crunch reports Instagram is working with its sister company to let users post Instagram stories directly to WhatsApp. Last October, Instagram did the same with Facebook. The move is expected to result in users spending more time overall on all three apps.

Wanna catch ‘em all? Pokémon Go lovers may soon be able to play the game in China. Shares of Nintendo got a nice boost on news that Pokémon Go developer Niantic is working with a Chinese gaming company to bring the augmented reality game to the mainland. The release is likely to boost revenue. No word yet on the launch date.
