Aussie budgets are about to take another hit with Australia Post announcing price increases from next month.

From September 5, it will be more expensive to use the postal giant to send parcels domestically and internationally.

The price of money orders will also rise.

The hikes follow a major review of products and services as the cost of fuel and flights soar.

In a statement to Yahoo Finance, a spokesperson for Australia Post said the changes were necessary to ensure a “sustainable postal service for all Australians”.

“We regularly review our products and services across a range of factors, including the changing needs of our customers and the increasing cost of delivery,” a spokesperson said.

“Australia Post is changing the price of some products and services from September 5, 2022 so that we can continue providing a sustainable postal service for all Australians.”

How much more will you pay?

The price to send domestic parcels is jumping by 4.5 per cent and international parcels by 4.8 per cent.

That means parcels up to 5kg will cost at least an extra 40 cents to send.

The cost of parcels less than 500g will soon cost $9.70, up from $9.30 and slightly heavier packages -weighing between 500g and 1kg - will increase to $13.25 from $12.70.

Bigger packages - weighing between 3kg and 5kg - will jump by 85 cents.

Prepaid express post satchels will also be more expensive, increasing by at least 40 cents per pouch.

The price of a standard money order, with a value up to $5,000, will increase from $11 to $13.

It comes as inflation skyrockets around the globe due to the conflict in Ukraine pushing up commodity and fuel prices.

This has driven up the costs of manufacturing and transporting goods.

The cost of living was found to be the biggest financial concern for Aussies at the moment (61 per cent), according to a Money.com.au survey.
