If your budget can't quite stretch to the The Mark Hotel in New York or a week in Dubai, or travelling abroad seems a touch too risky at the moment, then consider a weekend trip in Britain's own (sometimes) sunny isles and make the most of our lush outdoors with a glamping trip.

While some of us may be on the more intrepid side, there is something very satisfying about an elevated camping experience (complete with hot tub and comfy bed). Not only will you be able to enjoy the great outdoors, but you'll get a good night's kip while you're at it.

Staying in the UK also has a huge benefit: it is much more sustainable than hopping on a long-haul return flight, one of which can generates more CO2 than citizens of some countries produce in a year.

And, as well as benefitting this planet we call home, being in amongst Mother Nature is proven to help your mental health too. Shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing, in the Japanese practise of walking through woods to aid good health, and many are encouraging doctors UK-side to prescribe the activity.

So, pull those walking boots out, grab your toothbrush and take a look at these glamping pods and sites, that have just the right amount of glamour whilst still providing you with your perfect wholesome Instagram content.

Taking inspiration from Kenyan safari camps where the owners Archie and Emma have a home, The Nest gives you a taste of savannah life, right in the middle of Lincolnshire. Some pretty serious glamping comes courtesy of two snug lodge huts called Pinkfoot and Cuckoo that each sleep up to six guests.

Both have massive beds kitted out in super squidgy pillows and duvets from The White Company, outdoor egg-shaped tubs, decks overlooking the secret lake (perfect for cocktail sundowners) and chalet-esque log-burning stoves. Adventure-seekers should join Archie and Emma on a dusk safari in their old Land Rover in search of deer, badgers and foxes, or book a romantic dinner in the off-grid fishing hut. If that’s not your thing, the nearby town of Stamford has lots of indie shops, cafes and postcard-perfect cottages to explore.
