New car sales for November are better than they've been in the last five years.
Motor Trade Association spokesman Ian Stronach says that's confounded most observers this year.
He says November is usually a bit quieter after October, which is often boosted by rental deliveries, but it's held up really well this time.
Sales are dominated by Toyota, which has a 20 percent share of the market - the top selling passenger car is a Toyota Corolla and the best selling commercial vehicle is the Toyota HiLux.
There's also been a surge in scooter sales - they're up by 50 percent.
Motorbike sales are down 10 percent.
