Bullish insiders at VICI Properties Inc. (NYSE:VICI) loaded up on US$806k of stock earlier this year

Generally, when a single insider buys stock, it is usually not a big deal. However, when several insiders are buying, like in the case of VICI Properties Inc. (NYSE:VICI), it sends a favourable message to the company's shareholders.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

VICI Properties Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

The President & COO John W. Payne made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$251k worth of shares at a price of US$28.40 each. Although we like to see insider buying, we note that this large purchase was at significantly below the recent price of US$35.01. Because the shares were purchased at a lower price, this particular buy doesn't tell us much about how insiders feel about the current share price.

Insider Ownership

Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. VICI Properties insiders own about US$60m worth of shares. That equates to 0.2% of the company. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.

So What Does This Data Suggest About VICI Properties Insiders?

There haven't been any insider transactions in the last three months -- that doesn't mean much. On a brighter note, the transactions over the last year are encouraging. Overall we don't see anything to make us think VICI Properties insiders are doubting the company, and they do own shares. In addition to knowing about insider transactions going on, it's beneficial to identify the risks facing VICI Properties. At Simply Wall St, we've found that VICI Properties has 4 warning signs (2 shouldn't be ignored!) that deserve your attention before going any further with your analysis.
