Campbell Soup may be near a deal, GM to make big changes, Amazon rolls out RoboMaker

It’s a potential end to a battle for control of Campbell Soup. The Wall Street Journal says the food maker is nearing a settlement with investor Daniel Loeb. It would give Loeb more say over the board and end a proxy fight. Shareholders are set to vote Thursday on Loeb’s plan to oust the board.

GM is reportedly set to slash its car production in North America, according to Reuters. There are multiple reports that part of those cuts include closing a plant in Oshawa, Ontario. It employs about 2,200 people, and has been open since 1953. The Union says it wants GM to live up to the spirit of their contract and keep the plant running.

Amazon is making it easier to build robots online. It’s just rolled out the new AWS RoboMaker. It works through the company’s web services and Amazon says it provides pre-built functionality that cuts down the development cycle. Key customers like NASA and Stanley Black and Decker are already using it.

A huge deal between two of the biggest names in computer accessories is no more. Logitech says it’s no longer in talks for a potential deal with Plantronics. Reuters says Logitech offered more than $2.2 billon to buy Plantronics. No word on why the talks were called off.

New details this morning about just how close Tesla came to shutting down. Elon Musk told “Axios on HBO” that the company was quote “bleeding money like crazy”. They were within “single-digit weeks” of dying. This was during the big model 3 production ramp-up earlier this year. He called his own 22-hour days during that period quote “very painful.”
