Christchurch man charged over counterfeit money

A Christchurch man has been charged in relation to using counterfeit bank-notes.

The 30-year-old will appear in court tomorrow, charged with possessing forged bank-notes, obtaining by deception and using a document for pecuniary advantage.

He also faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and explosives.

Police alerted retailers in the Riccarton area in August last year, after fake $20 notes were used at several stores.

A total of eight notes were recovered from different shops.
