Citigroup (C) Gains But Lags Market: What You Should Know

In the latest trading session, Citigroup (C) closed at $52.70, marking a +0.04% move from the previous day. This change lagged the S&P 500's 0.95% gain on the day. At the same time, the Dow added 0.6%, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq gained 0.04%.

Heading into today, shares of the U.S. bank had gained 4.88% over the past month, outpacing the Finance sector's loss of 6.49% and the S&P 500's loss of 7.49% in that time.

Investors will be hoping for strength from Citigroup as it approaches its next earnings release. In that report, analysts expect Citigroup to post earnings of $1.61 per share.
