Eaton: 2Q Earnings Snapshot

DUBLIN (AP) _ Eaton Corp. PLC (ETN) on Tuesday reported second-quarter profit of $610 million.

On a per-share basis, the Dublin-based company said it had profit of $1.39.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.32 per share.

The power management company posted revenue of $5.49 billion in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $5.47 billion.

Eaton expects full-year earnings to be $5.20 to $5.40 per share.

Eaton shares have increased 1 percent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has climbed nearly 5 percent. The stock has climbed nearly 2 percent in the last 12 months.
