Further weakness as Century Therapeutics (NASDAQ:IPSC) drops 12% this week, taking one-year losses to 39%

Investors can approximate the average market return by buying an index fund. But if you buy individual stocks, you can do both better or worse than that. Investors in Century Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ:IPSC) have tasted that bitter downside in the last year, as the share price dropped 39%. That's well below the market decline of 20%. Century Therapeutics may have better days ahead, of course; we've only looked at a one year period. Furthermore, it's down 17% in about a quarter. That's not much fun for holders.

After losing 12% this past week, it's worth investigating the company's fundamentals to see what we can infer from past performance.

Given that Century Therapeutics didn't make a profit in the last twelve months, we'll focus on revenue growth to form a quick view of its business development. A Different Perspective

Century Therapeutics shareholders are down 39% for the year, even worse than the market loss of 20%. That's disappointing, but it's worth keeping in mind that the market-wide selling wouldn't have helped. With the stock down 17% over the last three months, the market doesn't seem to believe that the company has solved all its problems. Given the relatively short history of this stock, we'd remain pretty wary until we see some strong business performance. While it is well worth considering the different impacts that market conditions can have on the share price, there are other factors that are even more important. Consider for instance, the ever-present spectre of investment risk. We've identified 4 warning signs with Century Therapeutics (at least 1 which is concerning) , and understanding them should be part of your investment process.
