Glamp on a Melbourne rooftop

Melbourne's newest boutique accommodation, St Jerome's - The Hotel, is offering glamping right in the heart of the city.

Officially opened on 20 May, the five-star rooftop campsite in the middle of the city offers 30 luxury tents nestled among the highrises.

The whole rooftop has been covered in synthetic turf and luxury bell tents have been pitched on the site but don't worry about having to make sure there is enough air in your inflatable mattress, all the mod cons have been taken into account.

The tents have been fitted out with stylish decor, comfortable beds, luxury linen, fluffy quilts and electric blankets and heaters to keep you super warm during the Melbourne winter.

Each tent even gets it's own self-contained en suite stocked with Swisse Body Care products.

This luxury camping experience doesn't come cheap, rates start at $330 per night. Included are gourmet breakfast hampers delivered to your tent, morning tai chi and meditation classes, Mini bar with complimentary soft drinks, water and snacks, afternoon tea with treats from Cupcake Central and free games at Strike Bowling in Melbourne Central.

The idea belongs to St Jerome aka Jerome Borazio from Get Notorious and the namesake for St Jerome’s Laneway Festival.

Borazio says of project, “It’s all about repurposing a space that’s been unused and adding some real life to it. I wanted to create an experience that people could really benefit from – not just build another bar on another rooftop. As a CBD resident for over 20 years, I want to give others the opportunity to experience every element of this incredible city, in the realest, most sophisticated way.”
