Guess co-founder resigns, Toyota makes major investment, Salesforce invests $2.4B in UK

Here’s a look at some of the companies the Yahoo Finance team will be watching for you today.

Guess (GES) co-founder and executive chairman Paul Marciano has resigned amid sexual harassment claims. The company and Marciano haven’t admitted any wrongdoing, but will pay $500,000 to settle claims of inappropriate conduct. Among the public accusers: Supermodel Kate Upton who says Marciano grabbed and aggressively kissed her.

Toyota (TM) is making a big investment in ride sharing. The automaker plans to pour a billion dollars into the Singapore-based ride hailing startup Grab. The two firms were already working together on software for Grab’s fleet. With the new investment, Toyota will get to name an executive and get a seat on Grab’s board.

Brexit isn’t stopping Salesforce (CRM) from making a deal in the UK. The cloud computing giant plans to invest $2.5B into its British operations over the next 5 years. That includes hiring more staff and boosting its data center there. Just last month, Salesforce opened a data innovation center in London.

Another big milestone for Disney (DIS) and its blockbuster “Avengers: Infinity War.” The movie just passed the $2B mark worldwide – and now sits at number 4 on the all-time movie earnings list. Just Avatar, Titanic and Star Wars: The Force Awakens have made more at the box office. With this, Disney now owns 2 of the highest grossing films of all time.
