Can InMode (NASDAQ:INMD) Keep Up These Impressive Returns?

If we want to find a potential multi-bagger, often there are underlying trends that can provide clues. In a perfect world, we'd like to see a company investing more capital into its business and ideally the returns earned from that capital are also increasing. Ultimately, this demonstrates that it's a business that is reinvesting profits at increasing rates of return. Ergo, when we looked at the ROCE trends at InMode (NASDAQ:INMD), we liked what we saw.

What is Return On Capital Employed (ROCE)?

For those that aren't sure what ROCE is, it measures the amount of pre-tax profits a company can generate from the capital employed in its business. Analysts use this formula to calculate it for InMode:

Return on Capital Employed = Earnings Before Interest and Tax (EBIT) ÷ (Total Assets - Current Liabilities)

0.23 = US$48m ÷ (US$238m - US$28m) (Based on the trailing twelve months to June 2020).

Thus, InMode has an ROCE of 23%. That's a fantastic return and not only that, it outpaces the average of 9.0% earned by companies in a similar industry.

So How Is InMode's ROCE Trending?

In terms of InMode's history of ROCE, it's quite impressive. The company has consistently earned 23% for the last three years, and the capital employed within the business has risen 1,099% in that time. With returns that high, it's great that the business can continually reinvest its money at such appealing rates of return. You'll see this when looking at well operated businesses or favorable business models.

On a side note, InMode has done well to reduce current liabilities to 12% of total assets over the last three years. Effectively suppliers now fund less of the business, which can lower some elements of risk.

The Bottom Line On InMode's ROCE

In the end, the company has proven it can reinvest it's capital at high rates of returns, which you'll remember is a trait of a multi-bagger. And long term investors would be thrilled with the 131% return they've received over the last year. So while the positive underlying trends may be accounted for by investors, we still think this stock is worth looking into further.

On a final note, we've found 1 warning sign for InMode that we think you should be aware of.
