The motorists' perennial favourite cropped up again at the annual car awards last night.
Car of the Year, voted for by the New Zealand Motoring Writers' Guild, has gone to the Toyota 86 - a sleek-looking sports coupe.
Guild president David Linklater says it's an enthusiast's car and affordable at just under $42,000.
He says it was no surprise to see the Suzuki Swift win the small car category.
He says it's always popular and is often at the top of the sales charts.
Other winners include the Ford Focus and Ranger, three BMW models, the Skoda Superb and the Mazda CX5.
