SkyCity wants taxpayers to fund centre marketing

Taxpayer dollars could be used to promote the controversial convention centre being worked on by SkyCity and the Government

SkyCity is understood to be wanting an annual payment from the Government to cover marketing and promotion of the centre, once it is built.

Economic Development Minister Steven Joyce is not denying the issue is on the table, saying negotiations are ongoing.

"I don't want to rule out too many things today.

"Everything that is being talked about will come to some sort of conclusion, and then the deal will be laid out for the public."

The Greens want the Prime Minister to be censured by the Auditor-General for leaking parts of the office's report on the controversial convention centre deal.

John Key's office is rubbishing the assertion, saying it is factually incorrect to say any part of the report was leaked.

But Green MP Metiria Turei says the Prime Minister was tricky in his language in order to avoid quoting the report.

"It doesn't matter that he has been sneaky in the way he has done it.

"He has breached confidentiality, and he has impugned, I think, the Auditor-General's report and their office."
