Jenna Ortega Criticises One Part Of 'Wednesday' Netflix

Jenna Ortega's press run for Wednesday has been brilliant, with the 20-year-old actor revealing everything from the scene she choreographed to the intricacies of getting her plaits right. Now, she's openly criticised the plot point she didn't like in the Netflix original. We love an honest queen.

In a new interview, the actor, who plays the titular role in Tim Burton's reimagining of The Addams Family, explained she was super against the love triangle which forms for her character at Nevermore Academy.

'I told them very early on that I didn’t want her to be in the middle of a love triangle,' she told ETalk. 'I’ve always been against the love triangle idea. As far as the boys went, I had to accept it – but honestly, I’m going to fight this love triangle thing so hard. Because I don’t think Wednesday would ever be in a love triangle.'

We see Wednesday forming a connection with both Tyler (played by Hunter Doohan) and Xavier (played by Percy Hynes White). Adding that she addressed it with scriptwriters early on, Jenna continued, 'I talked to the writers about this and they said "don’t worry, don’t worry, it’s not gonna be that."

'I think there’s an opportunity there for a really sweet, platonic relationship because I don’t think it’s shown enough, men and women having safe, platonic relationships that don’t become romantic.'

She continued, 'Almost sibling-like relationships, I think that would be really wonderful to see between her and Xavier. Honestly, I think boys are probably the last thing on Wednesday’s mind.'
