Yahoo Finance Jennifer Lopez’s Is Finally Starring In A Thriller And She’s Taking The Lead
Jennifer Lopez is putting her romcom hat on the shelf for the moment to star in a Netflix thriller titled The Mother.
Variety reports the 52-year-old is teaming up with a stellar cast of actors including The Handmaid’s Tale’s Joseph Fiennes to star as the lead role in the film.
The Mother, directed by Niki Caro (who made Disney’s recently-released Mulan remake) will be the first feature film under Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions and Netflix and will see the ‘Jenny From The Block’ singer produce the project with several other production companies and film heavyweights.

Is there a trailer for The Mother?
No, and we can’t imagine there will be one for a while given that the film has just been confirmed.
However, the mother-of-two reposted a screenshot of a picture shared on producer Elaine Goldsmith Thomas' Instagram account of The Mother's cast.
In August Lopez shared a photograph of herself in an all-beige ensemble teasing what’s believed to be the film.
‘Bringing the beige,’ she captioned the post with the hashtag #NetflixOutfitCheck.
What is The Mother cast?
Joseph Fiennes (Shakespeare In Love), Omari Hardwick (Spell) and Gael Garcia Bernal (Old) have joined the cast of the film, as has 2021 Oscar nominated Paul Raci (Sound of Metal) and Lucy Paez (Silencio).
What is The Mother plot?
Variety reports the film see Lopez playing an assassin who comes out of the woodworks after going into hiding to care for her daughter (Paez), who she left after being chased by some really bad guys.
Hardwick will play an FBI agent, and it’s believed him and Raci are on Lopez’s side. Meanwhile Fiennes and Bernal are most certainly not.
