Judge threatens CVS-Aetna merger, UAW challenges GM, Netflix focuses on India

Here’s a look at some of the companies the Yahoo Finance team is watching for you today.

Some potential trouble for the merger of CVS and Aetna. A federal judge is threatening to press pause on the deal, even though it’s already closed. He’s worried the Justice Department didn’t fully address potential anticompetitive harms when it signed off back in October.

GM is facing pushback on its plan to idle some factories and cut jobs. The United Auto Workers union says GM violated the terms of their labor contract by using the word “unallocated” instead of “closed” to describe what’s happening with the plants. The 2015 contract pledges no plants will close or go idle until the term is up in 2019.

Netflix is shrugging off investor hopes of getting into China. The chief content officer, Ted Sarandos, told a conference that it’s unlikely Netflix will be in China anytime soon, in part because of that country’s changing standards for what can be shown online. He sees big growth in India because of its huge entertainment culture.

Amazon is trying to battle for market cap supremacy. The company’s value is just about in line with Apple and Microsoft, right around the $860 billion mark. Amazon briefly became the most valuable company on Wall Street, amid Apple’s recent stock slide.

A big data breach at the online question-and-answer site Quora. The company says someone hacked into its system, and data on about 100 million users may have been exposed. Quora doesn’t collect credit card information or Social Security numbers, but private messages and account information may have been taken.
