The 2021 VMAs hit New York on Sunday and, as you'd expect, they were full of excitement - from amazing outfits and cringe awkward moments, to an actual fight on the red carpet (well, almost).

Sadly, there were a number of stars missing from the event - and VMA winner Lizzo was one of them. However, the singer has now taken to social media to share the real reason she wasn't at the awards show, and it's *very* NSFW.

Celebrating her VMAs win for Best Artist x Creator Collab by making a TikTok (because how else would you celebrate?), Lizzo shared a video to her song Rumours, adding the text, "I really won a VMA while I was gettin my back blown out last night...:woozy_face::woozy_face: I'll be there next year promise".

In case you were unsure, it seems like Lizzo is definitely referring to sex in her TikTok, and fans are obviously keen for more info, with one commenting, "Whatttt we need tea who bae???" on Lizzo's Instagram post of the same vid.

Seems like we can always rely on Lizzo to spill the tea, right?

Still, it looks like Lizzo's absence didn't stop her from celebrating her win, as she bagged the award for new category Best Artist x Creator Collab for her mustard watermelon challenge stitch with @yayayayummy on TikTok. Yeah, we're slightly confused too.

Sharing her TikTok on Instagram, Lizzo promised fans she'll be at the event in 2022, writing, "I WON THE FIRST VMA FOR A TIKTOK SO I MADE A TIKTOK! Thanks @vmas @mtv I’LL BE THERE NEXT YEAR W BELLS ON ☕️☕️☕️".

We'll hold you to that one, Lizzo.

The singer was also noticeably absent from this year's Met Gala, and fans are already wondering whether it was for the same reason. Erm, watch this space, we guess?
