Service is returning to more than 200,000 Auckland broadband customers who had their internet cut for seven hours on Friday morning.
Telecom spokeswoman Jo Jalfon told NZ Newswire a fault occurred about 1am during system maintenance causing a major outage which also affected some EFTPOS machines.
The system was restored about 8am after it was transferred to the Telecom network in Christchurch.
Ms Jalfon says it's unlikely the fault will recur.
Any customers still experiencing problems should try restarting their computer or contacting Telecom.
