OLATHE, Kan. (AP) _ NIC Inc. (EGOV) on Wednesday reported second-quarter net income of $17 million.

The Olathe, Kansas-based company said it had net income of 25 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 22 cents per share.

The developer of government online services, websites and mobile applications posted revenue of $92.5 million in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $91.3 million.

NIC shares have increased slightly more than 2 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $17, a climb of 4 percent in the last 12 months.
