Nvidia makes big push into artificial intelligence, Amazon stock to hit $2K: Analyst, Bayer to retire Monsanto name

Nvidia (NVDA) is making a big dive into artificial intelligence with two new products designed to power autonomous robots. The company says its Isaac software will make it easier to develop and train robots. And it says the Jetson Xavier computer system is more powerful than a $10,000 workstation, at a fraction of the price.

Amazon (AMZN) is getting a new prime target for its stock — $2,000. Analyst Youssef Squali from Suntrust Robinson Humphrey says the best is yet to come for Amazon, and he predicts strong growth in the company’s private label sales. Amazon’s stock is up more than 40% year-to-date.

One of the biggest names in agriculture will soon be no more. Bayer says it will retire the Monsanto (MON) name later this week, when it closes on a $63 billion takeover deal. Monsanto’s former operations will be rebranded as Bayer, though product names will remain. Monsanto has long been a focus of criticism by environmentalists over its use of genetically modified seeds.

And labor peace is coming to Las Vegas. MGM Resorts (MGM) has reached a deal with a union representing nearly 24,000 hotel workers. The 5-year contract will cover members of the culinary union at 10 resorts, including the Bellagio, MGM Grand and the Mirage. Details of the contract have not been made public. The union on Friday also reached a deal to hold off a strike at Caesars.
