NZ should lower company tax rate - EMA

The Employers and Manufacturers Association says New Zealand needs to lower its company tax rate to better reflect our size, location and income levels.

The New Zealand Institute of Economic Research has released a report into lifting export performance which agrees the company tax rate is too high.

EMA chief executive Kim Campbell says boosting exports is vital to lift New Zealand's economic performance and we should aim to have a tax rate comparable with Switzerland or Chile.

He says keeping Government spending under control and growing public saving will have more impact on the exchange rate than a quick fix like printing money.
