Prince William jokes about having a fourth baby with Kate Middleton

If there's one thing that gets us excited – like, really excited – it's news of a royal baby. Luckily, last year was a real treat when it came to royal arrivals, with The Firm welcoming four (yes, FOUR) babies in just one year – baby August (Princess Eugenie's first), baby Lucas (Zara Tindall's third), baby Lilibet (Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's second) and baby Sienna (Princess Beatrice's first). With such an impressive baby boom in 2021, it's no wonder that 2022 is looking quite a lot quieter on the baby front. But, that's not to say we've given up hope altogether, especially since Prince William recently joked about a potential fourth Cambridge baby.

Speculation that Prince William and Kate Middleton could be expecting another baby has been swirling since, well, they welcomed Prince Louis back in 2018. Given their popularity amongst the public, it comes as no surprise that royal fans are eager for the pair to bring another royal babe into the world. And perhaps that possibility doesn’t seem quite so farfetched after all? With Prince William recently dropping some big hints, whilst on a royal outing at Clitheroe Community Hospital, that his wife would be pretty darn happy with the idea.

During the royal visit, the couple met with members of the public, including a newborn baby, who Kate was more than chuffed to have a cuddle with. "Don’t give my wife any more ideas," William joked to the new parents [per Marie Claire] before turning to Kate to say: "Don’t take her with you."

But, this isn't the first time the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have mentioned the idea of having a fourth baby. Back in 2019, whilst on a tour of Northern Ireland, Kate met a royal fan's five-month-old baby, telling the father, "He's gorgeous. It makes me feel broody."

In response, the baby's dad questioned Kate on the possibility of "baby number four", to which she responded: "I think William would be a little worried." The following year, Kate told another royal fan that she doesn't "think William wants any more" children [per People] after he excitedly shared that he'd sent her a congratulations card after the birth of each of her children.

The Duke and Duchess are parents to three children, eight-year-old Prince George, six-year-old Princess Charlotte and three-year-old Prince Louis. Whether or not a fourth Cambridge baby will be added to that list, remains to be seen...
