Yahoo Finance Reese Witherspoon announces divorce from husband Jim Toth
Reese Witherspoon has announced she and husband Jim Toth are divorcing after 11 years of marriage in a statement shared on Instagram.
The couple, who share a son, Tennessee James Toth, have said they have spent many wonderful years together and have great deal of love for each other, and in moving forward their biggest priority is Tennessee and their family.
In the statement Reese posted on Instagram, the couple said:
"We have some personal news to share…
"It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the the difficult decision to divorce. We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for everything we have created together.
"Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter. These matters are never easy and are extremely personal. We truly appreciate everyone’s response for our family’s privacy at this time. Reese and Jim."
Reese first met talent agent Jim in 2010, at a party when he intercepted a conversation between Reese and his drunk friend.
"It happened out of the blue. This really drunk guy was hitting on me, making such an idiot of himself, yelling at me. He was like, ‘You don’t know me.’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, I know. I don’t know you!’," Reese told Elle in 2012.
She continued: "Jim came over and said, ‘Please excuse my friend. He’s just broken up with someone'. Jim was a really good friend, pulling him out of that situation. That’s just kind of who he is, a really good person."
After 10 months of dating the couple got engaged in December 2010 and on 26th March 2011, Reese and Jim were married in a ceremony on Reese's ranch in California.
The couple's son Tennessee James Toth was born a year later in September 2012.
Reese is also mother to Ava Elizabeth, 23, and Deacon Reese, 19, whom she shares with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe.
