Siânnise Fudge bravely opens up about her weight loss caused by depression

Former Love Island contestant, Siânnise Fudge (who for a time found love with Luke Trotman) has candidly opened up on social media about her battle with depression and anxiety, which resulted in a two stone weight loss, mood swings and difficulty sleeping.

Posting two side-by-side images of herself taken a year apart, Siânnise wrote a lengthy caption detailing all she's been going through, in the hopes of helping others in the process. "I feel I have a responsibility to share this because it might help one of you and that's all I want from this," she began. "To give anyone suffering the belief that you can overcome obstacles in life."

She continued, "This time last year I was suffering with anxiety and depression behind closed doors. This resulted in me having insomnia, extreme mood swings & losing two stone in weight."

Siânnise went on to explain that her confidence massively dropped and she 'lacked love' within herself. "I couldn't bare to look at myself in the mirror because I didn’t recognise myself both physically and mentally. I completely lost myself and I wasn’t sure who I was as a person anymore."

She also shared how her mental health impacted everything from work to relationships, with both friends and family, saying that it felt 'impossible' to socialise – something that those suffering with depression commonly experience.

The reality star also revealed that she received upsetting messages on social media, from people commenting on her body: "I would receive messages on social media saying I’m too skinny, I need to eat some burgers and I’ve had to unfollow you because looking at you makes me uncomfortable... which was extremely triggering for me.

"I went to hospital twice for checks, and for someone who is terrified of needles I begged them to take my blood and help me. When the doctors came back with my results, they assured me they were all clear and there was nothing physically wrong with me and they told me I was suffering from severe anxiety."

Today, thankfully, it sounds as though things are completely different for Siânnise, who shared that she used the negative comments as fuel to get better. "[Today] I feel beautiful, confident and I love my body now more than ever. I never understood mental health until I experienced [the down sides of] it myself and how important it is. I urge everybody to be kind because you never know what someone is going through, everyone has a story."

In response to her opening up, fellow Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague left an encouraging comment reading, "You should be so proud of yourself beautiful 🤍" while another former contestant, Kady McDermott, wrote, "Oh Siannise this breaks my heart to read, but I am so glad you’re coming out the other end, you’re literally glowing at the moment and look so so so amazing. Always here and sending so much love".
