Stocks struggle to hold gains as tax bill hits a snag

Stocks (^DJI, ^GSPC, ^IXIC) are sideways to down after yesterday’s record highs. The consumer staples (XLP) and real estate (XLRE) sectors are the most in the green, and the financial (XLF) sector is most in the red.
