Strategists keeping close eye on US dollar data

Market strategists are keeping a close watch on the US and its impact on the New Zealand dollar.

Last week's US jobs numbers and stronger than expected manufacturing figures, led to a weakening of the Kiwi against the Greenback.

BNZ market strategist Raiko Shareef says the New Zealand dollar started last week at 86.80 and it's now around 85.70 US.

"In terms of the US though we've got some data coming out and really it was US data on Thursday night that helped the Kiwi dollar a little lower so we'll be watching US data quite closely because we expect the US dollar to really be a strong driver over the coming months."
