Tamar Braxton and her Queens Court finalist, Jeremy "JR" Robinson, have ended their engagement.

On Monday, Robinson revealed on social media that he and the Braxton Family Values star, 46, are no longer together after getting engaged on the first season finale of the Peacock reality series, which aired in March.

"So many questions. So many assumptions. I want to answer all that I can with respect,” he wrote in a statement on his Instagram Story. “Yes, Tamar and I are no longer together. I ended the relationship to focus on getting back to positive energy & being a better person.”

The attorney refused to divulge details of the split, saying, “What happened and why - that's our private place.”

“No. I never cheated. No. I wasn’t there when she was at her mother’s place when her car was burglarized,” he added, referring to an incident earlier this month in which the singer claimed was robbed at home.

"No, I never cared about fame. Who reveals their most embarrassing moments in their life to find fame. The truth is I was in an amazing place financially and mentally. I turned down Queens [Court] several times before I gave in. Ultimately, I fell in love and it did not end how I wanted it."

He concluded his message by shared that he hopes to “heal” following the split, adding, "Tamar and I will always be friends and family for life. Thank you for respecting our privacy."

A source later told PEOPLE that the split was Braxton's decision. "There’s been a lot of drama, but the hope is that the nail isn’t all the way in the coffin for them. She needs time," the source said. "The ball is in her court. She’s in a good mental state and has a great village around her and supporting her through this."

Braxton’s rep did not immediately return PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Braxton and Robinson got engaged in the first season finale of Peacock's Queens Court, which also saw Evelyn Lozada and Nivea in finding their perfect match.

"I knew I was different than my siblings," she said to Robinson on the show. "I prayed for somebody to understand me and not look at me and my flaws and just accept me for who I am. And then I met you. And then I saw every single that I ever prayed for as a child."

Braxton's engagement even took her sister Toni by surprise.

"She called me and said, 'Toni I'm engaged!'" Toni said on Sherri in May before sharing her initial reaction. "'To who?! To be what?! To do what?! You're engaged to do what?' And she said, 'No, I got a guy, you're going to love him!'"

Toni continued, "JR is her guy. And I was like, 'Can I see a picture?' And she was like, 'No, I'm going to surprise you.'"
