Taylor Claps Back At Claims She Doesn't Write Her Own Songs

Taylor Swift just proved she is one celebrity you do not want to get on the wrong side of, taking to Twitter to publicly call out another musician who made claims that she doesn't write her own songs.

To recap, earlier this week, musician Damon Albarn (best known as the frontman of British band Blur) sat down with the LA Times for an interview. During the interview, Damon claimed that Taylor doesn't write her own songs, a quote which was later shared on the publication's Twitter profile.

Understandably, his comments didn't go down too well with the 32-year-old singer, who quickly took to Twitter herself to clapback at the Blur frontman. '@DamonAlbarn I was such a big fan of yours until I saw this,' she wrote. 'I write ALL of my own songs. Your hot take is completely false and SO damaging. You don’t have to like my songs but it’s really f**ked up to try and discredit my writing. WOW.'

'PS I wrote this tweet all by myself in case you were wondering,' she shared in a later tweet – which, we think you'll agree, deserves a spot in the clapback hall of fame.

In response, Damon apologised to the All Too Well singer and said his comments had been taken out of context and used as clickbait. 'I totally agree with you,' he wrote on Twitter. 'I had a conversation about songwriting and sadly it was reduced to clickbait. I apologise unreservedly and unconditionally. The last thing I would want to do is discredit your songwriting. I hope you understand.'

So, what did Damon actually say? Per the LA Times article, after saying that Taylor doesn't write her own songs, interviewer Mikael Wood said: 'Of course she does. Co-writes some of them.'

'That doesn’t count,' Damon replied. 'I know what co-writing is. Co-writing is very different to writing. I’m not hating on anybody, I’m just saying there’s a big difference between a songwriter and a songwriter who co-writes. Doesn’t mean that the outcome can’t be really great.'

We're not quite so sure Swifty fans would agree...
