Tempur Sealy: 2Q Earnings Snapshot

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) _ Tempur Sealy International Inc. (TPX) on Thursday reported second-quarter profit of $22.8 million.

On a per-share basis, the Lexington, Kentucky-based company said it had profit of 42 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 52 cents per share.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 64 cents per share.

The mattress maker posted revenue of $669.7 million in the period, which also fell short of Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $691.3 million.

Tempur Sealy shares have decreased 20 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has fallen 11 percent in the last 12 months.
