Truist Financial Corporation (NYSE:TFC) insiders placed bullish bets worth US$2.2m in the last 12 months

Quite a few insiders have dramatically grown their holdings in Truist Financial Corporation (NYSE:TFC) over the past 12 months. An insider's optimism about the company's prospects is a positive sign.

To us, it's very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares. It is generally more encouraging if they paid above the current price, as it suggests they saw value, even at higher levels.

Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Truist Financial insiders own 0.3% of the company, currently worth about US$185m based on the recent share price. Most shareholders would be happy to see this sort of insider ownership, since it suggests that management incentives are well aligned with other shareholders.

So What Does This Data Suggest About Truist Financial Insiders?

There haven't been any insider transactions in the last three months -- that doesn't mean much. However, our analysis of transactions over the last year is heartening. It would be great to see more insider buying, but overall it seems like Truist Financial insiders are reasonably well aligned (owning significant chunk of the company's shares) and optimistic for the future.
