The UGG boot style A-listers can't get enough of RN

The UGG boot style A-listers can't get enough of RN

When Kendall Jenner, Elsa Hosk and Kaia Gerber stepped out in UGGs last year we were a) shook b) pleasantly surprised by the overall look and c) immediately presumed it would be a fleeting trend. But how wrong we were - it would appear UGGs are very much here to stay for 2022 and honestly, we ain’t mad about it.

In recent weeks, the Australian brand has been spotted on even more A-listers and influencers, and it seems the Ultra Mini boot is the style of the season. So popular are they, Gen Z’s have actually come up with an eco-conscious way of making their old Millenial calf-length UGGS into the Ultra Mini version and it’s kinda nifty. American TikToker, @emkeen3, recently racked up 4.4 million views demonstrating her hack which involved digging out her old boots, grabbing a pair of scissors, cutting the boots to the desired length and stitching a seam.

Honestly, it was more impressive than it sounds.

Now, if we were to really think about it, the revival of the Noughties’ most popular booties isn’t all that surprising given the past couple of years. With loungewear and 'all things comfortable' being the order of the day currently, it’s no wonder the casual staple is returning as a wardrobe mainstay. No shoe is more perfect for an early morning dash to the shops for milk than these bad bois.

But, how exactly are celebs styling the Uggs in 2022, you ask? With tailoring and comfies. Pair the low-rise boots with your leggings and slouchy sweater or fleece for a retro off-duty vibe, like Kendall and Kaia:

... or swap the jumper for a crop top, unzipped jacket and layered necklaces to create a more trans-seasonal look, á la Irina:

Alternatively, make like EmRata by teaming your Uggs with a lime green hoodie and leather coat for a slightly more elevated vibe or pair with tailoring like Elsa Hosk:

Joan Smalls went for a similar feel to EmRata with a casual halterneck LBD (little black dress) and a bubblegum pink teddy jacket:

Dua Lipa, however, leant fully into the nostalgia, wearing hers with a multi-coloured stripey jumper (the kind we can totally imagine Willow from Buffy The Vampire Slayer rockin') and oh-so-noughties low-rise boyfriend jeans:

Slammin', huh?

Below, we bring you some the original UGG boot trendsetter because we have to give credit where credit's due. Prepare to feel pretty damn nostalgic...

Here's Kate Middleton back in her pre-royal days, wearing her Uggs with jeans, a statement necklace, chunky belt buckle and printed top while out and about in London in 2007:

And remember when Beyoncé wore hers with a belted mini skirt and blazer for the Superbowl press conference back in 2004?

Last but not least, noughties boho icon, Sienna Miller, donned Uggs for a trip to the theatre in 2005, paired with a white tee and cropped cardigan:
