Viasat (VSAT) Delivers 1,000 KOR-24A STT Production Units

Viasat, Inc. VSAT recently announced that it has reached the significant milestone of 1,000 KOR-24A Small Tactical Terminal (STT) production unit shipments. The company shipped the 1,000th production unit in April 2018, which has been installed on a U.S. Marine Corps AV-8B Harrier II attack aircraft.

The KOR-24A STT is a two-channel radio designed to meet the needs of users who have size, weight and power constraints but need the information available on Link 16 networks and tactical Very High Frequency or Ultra High Frequency. STTs are operational on air, ground and maritime platforms and are being deployed by the U.S. armed forces and military organizations of five international coalition partner nations.

The STT is the world's only multi-channel radio capable of performing Link 16 communications in a small form factor. These are built to operate over extensive periods of time in order to provide military forces with superior connectivity. STTs in the field have accumulated more than 1.75 million hours of operation to date.

Viasat continues to deliver innovative technology that meets mission-critical requirements while maintaining the flexibility to support the evolving customer demands. The company is increasing production deliveries to 50 per month to address the growing market demand while providing warfighters with a robust connectivity solution at the tactical edge.

The STT is a significant contributor to Viasat's portfolio of Non-Developmental Item (NDI) offerings leveraging Link 16 for the United States and international defense markets.  The company’s NDI offerings are designed to rapidly deliver cutting-edge technology solutions ahead of the traditional government procurement model by leveraging its agile development process and flexible business model.

Viasat’s portfolio of next-generation tactical datalink solutions, including the STT, is continually updated to support customers’ evolving mission needs. The STT has been recently updated with the introduction of an improved frequency oscillator, enabling STT platforms to operate beyond line of sight from other Link 16 platforms. STTs are likely to see new capabilities infused into the platform including the roll-out of a software-only upgrade to address cryptographic modernization by the end of 2019.

In the past three months, shares of Viasat have rallied 10%, outperforming the industry’s growth of 7.3%.
