Victoria's bid for new super battery

Victoria is looking to get supercharged, with the government wanting to build Australia's largest battery to improve reliability of the state's electricity grid.

The 20-megawatt battery, to be built in the state's west, will ensure reliability of supply and "keep power prices in check, especially in peak demand periods", the government says.

The Andrews government is calling for expressions of interest from utility-scale battery storage businesses by March 1.
