Westlake: 3Q Earnings Snapshot

HOUSTON (AP) _ Westlake Chemical Corp. (WLK) on Tuesday reported third-quarter net income of $308 million.

On a per-share basis, the Houston-based company said it had profit of $2.35.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.24 per share.

The chemical company posted revenue of $2.26 billion in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.23 billion.

Westlake shares have dropped 30 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has fallen 13 percent in the last 12 months.
