ATLANTA (AP) _ WestRock Co. (WRK) on Thursday reported fiscal third-quarter net income of $268.2 million.

On a per-share basis, the Atlanta-based company said it had net income of $1.03. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to $1.09 per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.05 per share.

The paper and packaging company posted revenue of $4.14 billion in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $4.12 billion.

WestRock shares have fallen nearly 10 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has decreased 1 percent in the last 12 months.
