How you know The Last of Us castSky

The Last of Us is the show of the moment. With shocking scenes causing a stir to emotional episode arcs, everybody is obsessed with the gritty and frightening new adaptation. If you feel like you recognise the cast, here's where you've seen the faces from The Last Of Us before.

In last week's episode, fans were taken back by the poignant and emotionally charged episode that took us away from Joel and Ellie's journey, and launched us into a quiet love story between two new characters: Bill and Frank. We can't lie, the episode's sudden turn into a tragic romance had us reaching for the tissues.

And given that the episode revolved around two actors that we're very used to seeing on our screens, it left us with a melancholy feeling that we'll probably won't be able to shake until next week's episode.

Let's face it: the casting for The Last of Us it top-notch. With a show that contains some notable names and familiar faces, we've decided to break-down where you've seen some of these figures before, and uncover the other acclaimed shows they've appeared in.

They play: Joel, the cynical survivor tinged with salt-and-pepper grit, who is tasked with escorting teenager Ellie across the infected wasteland to an unknown laboratory.

Where you know them from: Pedro Pascal was most widely known for his role as Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones, but he's also starred in The Mandalorian, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and Wonder Woman 1984.

Oh, and you've also probably seen him circulated on the internet through various memes and interview clips, since he's basically pop culture's go-to 'daddy' right now.

Bella Ramsey

They play: Ellie, the snarky and foul-mouthed teen Ellie, who is a genetic miracle. Infected, but able to live with the disease that wiped out the rest of the human race, Ellie is due to be taken across the country to a lab in the hopes of being humanity's savour. No pressure.

Where you know them from: Another Game of Thrones alumni, Bella Ramsey appeared in the fantasy show as Lyanna Mormont, as well as starring in Catherine Called Birdy, and appearing in His Dark Materials.

Anna Torv

Sky

They play: Joel's semi-pseudo partner post-apocalypse, who sacrifices herself in order to allow Joel and Ellie to escape, thus sending them forward on their dangerous journey across the states.

Where you know them from: If you don't recognise Anna Torv from her work in the hit drama series Fringe, then you will probably remember her as serial-killer hunting Dr Wendy Carr in the terrifying Netflix series Mindhunter.

Nick Offerman

They play: In the show's third episode, we focus mostly on the love story between aggressive survival-prepper Bill and Frank, who he finds wandering into his trap. Bill and Frank quickly fall in love, and proceed to live out the rest of their years in their tiny isolated suburban paradise.

Where you know them from: Nick Offerman is most known for playing moustached anti-government macho man Ron Swanson in Parks and Recreation. Over the years, he's also appeared in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Fargo, The Founder, and Pam and Tommy.

Where you know them from: Murray Bartlett made waves in the first season of The White Lotus, playing hotel manager Armond. His zingy one-liners and scheming undertones were an absolute blast for audiences, setting the bar for what would become one of the most beloved shows of the past few years. Sex and the City fans will also recognise him from a one-episode arc back in the day.

Melanie Lynskey

They play: Whilst her character Kathleen hasn't appeared in the show just yet, or in the games at all, she's said to be the "ruthless leader of a revolutionary movement in Kansas City." Whether she's a friend or foe to Joel and Ellie remains to be seen in next week's episode.

Where you know them from: Lynskey's name has been around for a while. If she's not appearing in films such as Heavenly Creatures, Coyote Ugly, and The Perks of Being a Wallflower, she's starring in comedies such as Two and Half Men, or bringing a hit thriller to our screens with Yellowjackets. We can't wait to see what she brings to the table with her new character.
