You could own an Italian castle for a cool $40M

On September 8th, the medieval Castel Valer in Italy will change hands, for the first time in hundreds of years, from the family of Count Spaur zu Flavon und Valer, whose ancestors have owned it since the 14th century.

The beautiful Italian castle, which was constructed in 1200 and restored over the last 20 years, is being offered in a no-reserve auction — along with its original antiques, chanedeliers and Venetian mirrors — on September 8.

Scroll through the gallery to see the castle’s vast interior, spanning numerous architectural periods, and scenic surroundings.
