The Mank nominee wore a coral Oscar de la Renta gown with a floral appliqués but according to her stylist, Elizabeth Stewart, the off-the-shoulder look almost didn’t make it to Seyfried (who is currently in Savannah, Georgia with her family).

“The dress was lost for an entire 36 hours on its way to Savannah,” Stewart reveals. “Someone from Oscar de la Renta drove hours to the 24-hour FedEx hub in Newark and stayed there until they found the dress in the nick of time.”

The Hollywood icon accepted the Golden Globe for best supporting actress for her role in The Mauritanian alongside wife Alexandra Hedison, and both opted for chic pajamas. But Foster didn't chose just any PJs — she elevated her nightwear with a silk printed pair from Prada, which she accessorized with Neil Lane Couture jewels.

The Cecil B. DeMille Award-winner’s makeup artist David Deleon tells PEOPLE that Fonda and her glam team usually engage in “fascinating discussions about politics, world events and movies” while getting ready.

"I have a special playlist that I made for her with some of her favorite artists and songs, Bonnie Raitt and James Taylor are a couple of favorites," says Deleon, who gave the star a "fresh" makeup look for her big night.

Fonda’s hairstylist Jonathan Hanousek — who created a feminine hairstyle “with a touch of drama” to complement the star’s structured suit — adds that the glam process is “pretty mellow.”

“Jane has a small space that is set up with great lighting and a salon chair that we use to get her ready. We talk about work and what’s happening in the news. Sometimes Jane has work to do, but mostly it just feels like hanging out with friends. We’ve been working together for several years so we definitely have a rhythm going.”

The actress, who presented live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel during Sunday’s show, walked the Golden Globes red carpet in a bright and bold neon green tea-length Valentino Haute Couture dress and sky-high metallic silver platforms. One might assume that such a daring look involved weeks of collaboration between Erivo and her team, but stylist Jason Bolden tells PEOPLE the actress trusted his vision and was totally hands-off this year.

“She had no idea. I came over, and I pulled the dress out. She was like, 'What is that?' I was like, 'This is the Golden Globes dress,'" Bolden says. “She tried it on, zero alterations. She's wearing the exact same shoes from the runway, which are these like stilts."

According to Bolden, Erivo says the shoes were actually comfortable to walk in!

The actress' red satin Lafayette 148 suit is something that's "fully integrated" into her everyday wardrobe, the actress’s stylist Chloe Hartstein tells PEOPLE. "With Glenn currently living in Montana, we wanted to keep the logistics down to a minimum, but also be mindful of what is currently happening in the country and the world."

So they got inspired. "Recycling an outfit from Glenn's incredible archive felt like a timely idea, following in the footsteps of what Cate Blanchett and [stylist] Elizabeth Stewart did at the Venice Film Festival,” Hartstein, who paired the chic satin suit with Golden Goose sneakers and Cartier jewels, explains.

Stylist Elizabeth Stewart dressed the How to Get Away with Murder star in a brightly-colored Claude Kameni gown, which has a special design inspiration.

"It’s all about rethinking glamour and couture on the red carpet in the age of diversity and inclusivity," Stewart tells PEOPLE. "It’s still an arena that needs cultural specificity. The designer proposed this print from fabric made in her native Cameroon. Claude’s latest collection was inspired by African royalty, and Viola is royalty to me!"

To accept the Golden Globe for best actress in a television comedy, the star donned a custom Vera Wang printed suit — and her stylist Andrew Gelwicks tells PEOPLE the look paid tribute to her on-screen character Moira Rose.

“Because this is the last season for Schitt's Creek, I thought it would be nice to give a nod towards Moira's character, which I hope we accomplished," says Gelwicks. "I always do try to differentiate the actor from their character, but when there's an opportunity to pay homage then I think it can be a nice moment.”

Gelwicks tells us that Wang “completely understood” their vision and says it was a “privilege to work with such an iconic artist.”

“The print feels so unique — the colors almost like a watercolor — which I find captivating. It's just a testament to Vera's keen eye for colors and designing something with such graphic elements,” he continues. “I think the suit is playful and fun, while at the same time maintaining its beauty, glamour, and sophistication."
