Soccer-FA Cup final to kick off as usual at 3pm, in relief for travelling fans

The FA Cup 2023-24 final between holders Manchester City and Manchester United will kick off at 3pm local time, the English FA said on Tuesday, in welcome news for travelling fans who often struggle with late kickoffs. The May 25 final will see the two sides from Manchester - 200 miles north of the capital - face off at London's Wembley Stadium for the second year in a row. "This kickoff time was agreed with the clubs, local authority, members of the Safety Advisory Group and broadcasters," the FA said in a statement.

Soccer-Ex-Man United boss Mourinho says he didn't get the same support as Ten Hag

Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has said he did not have the same kind of support at the club during his 2-1/2 year tenure as current Old Trafford boss Erik ten Hag. The 61-year-old Portuguese, who last managed Serie A side AS Roma before being sacked in January, was fired by United in December 2018 following a series of dismal results having won the League Cup and Europa League in the 2016-17 season. Mourinho, who has also managed Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur, added that there were still a few players at United who he did not want when he was there.

UPDATE 3-Soccer-Man Utd win FA Cup thriller against Coventry on penalties

Manchester United survived one of the most astonishing FA Cup semi-final comebacks ever to beat second-tier Coventry City 4-2 on penalties after a chaotic clash ended 3-3 following extra time at Wembley Stadium on Sunday. United were cruising to a record 22nd FA Cup final and a repeat clash with Manchester City thanks to goals by Scott McTominay, Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes with Coventry barely laying a glove on their opponents for 70 minutes. But Coventry, playing in their first FA Cup semi-final since they won the Cup for the only time in 1987, were not about to go down without a fight and exposed United's soft centre.
